Mail Transport Equipment—Inventory Management and Loss PreventionUSPS Mail Transport Equipment (MTE) consists of specialized containers such as sacks, pouches, trays, hampers, over-the-road containers and pallets. The Postal Service has more than 1.1 billion pieces of MTE, which is used at close to 400 processing facilities, over 33,000 post offices and hundreds of major mailers nationwide to help achieve the safe, secure and timely movement of mail between Postal Service facilities and its customers or contractors.

MTE is a valuable and essential Postal Service asset, and it is imperative that facilities or customers do not overstock (hoard) MTE.  MTE may be used only to transport mail, and borrowers of MTE (such as private mailers) are responsible for its proper use and return.

10 things to look for in a transportation consultant Transportation consultants can play a key role in helping you save time and money. We have found there are 10 major issues you should consider when hiring a transportation consultant. In part 1 of our two part series we will look at the first five. In part two we will review the remainder.

Transportation Consultants should take the long-term view that puts you, the client, first. Select a transportation consultant who has worked for leading companies for a long time and avoid consultants who have had a number of one-night stands. Long-term relationships bring value in many forms. If the transportation consultant has had long term relationships, chances are the advice he/she provides is both practical and implemented. Keeping the same transportation consultant (Not just the company but the people) means there is no need to educate them with each new assignment saving time, and time is money in consulting, It allows you to bounce ideas off them between engagements (normally for free) and it enables them to bring you new ideas when they discover them.

Prague Public Transport’s a Rip Off!So, before I write about the joys of Prague last week… I want to get something off my chest first.

The public transport in Prague is not too expensive, although some people would disagree with me. The problem is the availability of tickets at night. There’s no machines available, no shops open, metro stations where there are offices: closed. If you can reach machines, but don’t have exact change: good luck. Even the guys from the tram/metro service won’t change money with you. Oh, and the tramdrivers don’t sell tickets.

After another three hours — and about 80 amendments — the House finally took a vote. The bill easily passed a second reading. A third and final reading will take place Monday, and members will be busy reviewing the scores of amendments that made it into the law, many of which aren’t yet understood by even the lawmakers who voted for them.

Public Transport in SingaporeI know it’s been a while (again). Here’s what I’m thinking about right now.

The of a lack of a good journey planner and coherent information design has caused me a lot of trouble since I moved here. To outline it; there are currently two different public transportation companies here, SBS Transit and SMRT. They run their own bus lines and their own train lines, which luckily are connected and use the same payment system (unlike, I hear, in Tokyo).
